The beach, an ocean, a passing surfer, a storm coming in, makes the world so simple and beautiful. The anticipation of winning an ocean swim. The Sun Series began in the summer of 2023. I wanted to take images of the sun during it setting and rising at different times of the year and mark the changes in color. I was inspired by the absolute stunning beauty reflected when the seasons, months and time change. As an artist I wanted to give the images a uniformity but let the colors shine through as it does for us everyday.

The Joshua Tree and its ability to grow amongst harsh and unforgiving terrain are a symbol of faith for thriving amidst adversity. It is seen as a symbol of love, hope, and faith, that beauty and life can still flourish in the most challenging of times and environments. I connect with the Joshua Tree because it says so much without saying it but representing it.

Spring 2020 came with the Covid 19 virus and our world changed. I needed to document my world as beautifully and honestly as possible. No people, businesses closed, restaurants and retail boarded up and a world under siege by something we couldn’t see.
George Floyd then changed our world so graphically and visually we needed to react. It threw us into a world of protests, rioting, we all needed to say something. BLM gave a voice to those who were not being heard. Some of my photos are here on this page.
